unit 5
Global climate change
Weather: Its is the atmospheric condition at any place or time, weather can change in anywhere from a hour to a day. Weather also changes seasonally, and there is many different examples of weather like snow, rain, sunny, cloudy, and etc.
Climate: A long term average weather in a certain location. And, for climate to change it should take about 20 years. The Greenhouse effect: This is when solar radiation heats the earth and keeps it warm and here is how it works. Well its first goes into the atmosphere some makes it in but others get reflected away by the clouds and atmosphere about only half of this reaches earth. Then some that actually reach earth heat earth up. Then it gets sent back as infrared radiation, and then some go straight out into space while some hit clouds and get reflected in all directions. And, when there is some greenhouse gases in the atmosphere then the earth captures even more heat and this can lead to global warming and etc. An example of one of these gases is carbon dioxide. Global climate change: This is when the earths temperature or over all heat begins to incline or decline. This is measured in spans from 20-30 years. And, currently the earths global climate is increasing and so is Co2 and that is at its highest ever so the climate change might be greatly effected by the greenhouse effect. Solar variation: That earth gets its heat from short wave radiation from the sun. If there is a darker spot on the sun its a sun spot and its hotter than a normal part on the sun and that can make the radiation waves a little hotter if they are from that spot. Milankovitch cycles: These can change over thousands of years but the earth can change its tilt, orbit, and more so it can get the right amount of energy. Volcano: These release gases and dust into the atmosphere when they erupt and that dust and ash can reflect some radiation from the sun back into outer-space before it reaches earth. Global warming: This can lead to a lot of negative things. Firstly, sea levels rising since more glaciers and ice caps will melt and that will lead to a lot of flooding and lost of land in the coasts since the melting will lead to there being more water. This will also lead to global climate changes, and changes in the seasons since if the global climate rises then the seasons will be hotter than usual an etc. There will even be more storms since storms like hurricanes get their energy from the oceans warmth. Global warming effects: There will be more droughts since it will be hotter so that will lead to more droughts. This can also make there be more heat waves since it will be hotter than usual and that can lead to extremely hot weather for a few days (more heat waves). Also, it can also lead to wild fires since there will be less rain this will lead to more wild fires and they will be bigger and last longer. Even more effects will be the following there will be a higher demand for crops, and water. There will also be more weather related deaths more disease and there will be bad air quality. And, there will be a loss of species, coastal land, plus forests. |
